In My Corner of the Blogosphere:

I participated in the Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag!
I talked about the Tulsa Race Riot in my A Glimpse Back in Time post.
I wrote a mostly pointless post on my TWO YEAR blogoversary!

What's New With Me?

Wow, so it's been awhile since I've written one of these! The last wrap up post I did was for February! If you haven't been following along with other posts where I talked about why I took an impromptu hiatus, it was honestly mostly because Breath of the Wild came out and I was GLUED TO MY TELEVISION!

Then I just had literally zero desire to read anything. I forced myself to be ready to get back into blogging by my blogoversary and it went fairly well. I'm considerably more motivated now than I was before.

So yeah, I have almost beat Breath of the Wild. I have all the shrines and side quests done, I mostly just have to beat Ganon, but I'm not ready to be done so I'm going to try to find all 900 Korok seeds. I'm almost 1/3 of the way there. And I just got the DLC so I'm looking for all the fun new stuff.

I binged all of Gilmore Girls on my hiatus as well. I was sick for three days in like March or something and I watched a LOT of it during that time. I'm still undecided on whether or not I actually liked it, but after the ending of that revival, I want more.

I have a lot of travel planned in the near future. I'm trying to completely limit my spending this month so that I can afford to go on a road trip to Indiana in August to see my mom with my sister. We have never gone by ourselves before and I'm nervous, but super excited. I think it will be super fun to have it be just the two of us. The day after we get back is my friend's bachelorette party, which should be fun!

Then in September I have a wedding to go to, which won't really be a lot of travel, but it should be fun. And Leigh Bardugo is going to be in St. Paul, MN on September 29th, so I'm going to that! I'm SO excited, the description of the event on the bookstore website sounds beyond amazing.

Then the weekend after Leigh Bardugo is my friend's wedding where I get to be a bridesmaid! I'm SO excited for that too! And then if I have managed to save enough money, I think I'm going to ValleyScare in MN with my sister and her friends. I was going to go last year, but I had no moneys.

That's really about all that's new with me. Future months promise to be more interesting.

How did the month of June go for you? What was your favorite book you read? Least favorite? Let me know!

  3. Nice review of Roar. I've wondered about that one since the storm magic angle sounded really cool, but I saw Aentee's post too and it definitely gave me pause. So to see you address it was nice. My issue is could I enjoy the book with all that going on? I may still try it...

Song of the Current is another one I'd like to read.

    1. Thank you! The storm magic in Roar was SO cool. This book could have been so amazing if it weren't for the skeevy romance. I think that I personally enjoyed Roar more because I knew about the romance ahead of time and it couldn't ruin my reading experience so much. If you end up reading it, I hope you can enjoy it! And DEFINITELY check out Song of the Current! I just finished it and it was AMAZING!

  4. Yay! Looks like a good few months are ahead :) I feel you on Gilmore Girls. I tried to watch the first season and didn't get too far. They just annoy me too much?? We'll see if I ever continue

    1. They annoyed the crap out of me toooooooo!! But somehow I managed to push past it?? Probably wouldn't have stuck with this show if I hadn't watched so much of it while I was sick!
