My Dream Crate

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

Hello everyone! Today I have a really fun post for you! I learned about an idea Loot Crate has been working on with different fans. If by chance you don't know what Loot Crate is, they're a crate subscription service that delivers all sorts of fun and geeky items to your door each month. They're looking for fans to highlight what they would do if they could create their own personal crate ideas. So I am going to share with you what my Dream Crate would be and what would be included in it!

Since this is a blog all about books, my Dream Crate would definitely be something similar to a book subscription box. I have been thinking of SO many different books I could include in this crate and what themes would go with them, but everything I came up with seemed too specific to be any fun for picking out goodies!

Then yesterday while rereading the email regarding this post (and looking at the possible theme suggestions included), one of them made me think of a certain anthology coming out in July and I FINALLY had my Dream Crate theme!

Can you guess what theme I picked?

VILLAINS!!

I feel like this really isn't a theme that I would normally pick just because I am definitely more of a hero kind of girl. But the ideas just started FLOWING and I have pretty much created the coolest box out there, let me tell you right now.

Have you figured out the book yet?

Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy
Edited by Ameriie
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Childrens
Publication Date: July 11th, 2017

This unique YA anthology presents classic and original fairy tales from the villain's point of view. The book's unconventional structure--thirteen of the most influential BookTubers on YouTube join forces (writing-prompt style) with thirteen acclaimed and bestselling authors--gives these mysterious, oft-misunderstood individuals characters a chance to tell their stories, their way.

Like Maleficent or Wicked, these are stories of vengeance, of defiance, of rage. They are stories of pain, of heartbreak, of sorrow. But don't expect a circle of hands. Leave it to the heroes to help the world; villains just want to rule the world. We love to hate them and they hate to be loved, if only because being hated frees them from having to be good.

Contributing authors include bestselling and buzzy names Renée Ahdieh, Soman Chainani, Susan Dennard, Sarah Enni, Marissa Meyer, Cindy Pon, Victoria Schwab, Samantha Shannon, Adam Silvera, Andrew Smith, April Genevieve Tucholke, and Nicola Yoon, with a foreword and a story from anthology editor Ameriie.

This box definitely feels like a dream right now just because this book is SO far away, but it would be worth the wait if it were a real box, I promise you!

And without further ado, here are five fun items that would be included in my Villainy Box!

1. A Villain Character Funko Pop

I personally love Funko Pops. I think they are so fun and I think it is SO fun when they are included in subscription boxes. I think it would be cool if my box were to include a mystery villain character Funko Pop!

My thought is that it could include a villainous character from any fandom. But I think it would be best to stick to more popular TV/Movie fandoms. If I were to get an Anime villain, I probably wouldn't know who it was. I think it would be best to include villains the majority of people have probably heard of.

I featured these three specifically because I think three of the short stories in this book could be about them. "Sea witch" is obviously Ursula. "Unwanted suitor from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST" is obviously Gaston. "Ambitious Dark Lord" or "Dark Sorcerer seeking immortality" could be about Voldemort, couldn't they?

2. Villain Themed Candle

This candle from Novelly Yours would be a perfect addition to my Villainy Box! I love love love Brittany's candles and candles are something I'm always SUPER excited to find in my subscription boxes.

3.  A Villain Quote Cuff Bracelet

I have been toying with the idea of ordering myself a custom cuff bracelet from NovelReveries on Etsy. I always get excited when I find cute jewelry that I would actually wear in a box that I ordered. I think bracelets are a safe choice for a box and one of these cuff bracelets would be wonderful! The quotes that I found that would be perfect for this box are:

Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? - Evil Queen from Snow White

or

Mistress of all Evil - Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

4. T-Shirt

I have only ever ordered one Loot Crate box before, but I'm pretty sure that they all include a t-shirt. I  really like these two t-shirts for my Dream Crate!

The first one is from Look Human and the quote kind of made me chuckle so I had to include it. Also really tempted to buy it for myself!

The other one is from Redbubble. In an effort to find an item with a villain NOT from Disney, I found this awesome Nintendo shirt! I love Nintendo and I would probably love to find this shirt in a box moreso than the other one.

5. Bookmark

Getting back to the bookish stuff, I'm going to finish my box off with one of these super cute Darkling quote bookmarks from Marquisdusoleil on Etsy!

That is what I would include in my Dream Crate in a nutshell! Would you be psyched to get this box? What would be in your crate if you were to create a box? Let me know in the comments! Or better yet, make your own post and link me to it! I would love to see it!
