So, I originally requested this book because I really quite liked the other Amanda Hocking book I read and because the synopsis sounded interesting. But the more I thought about having to read this book, the more 'meh' I started to feel about it.
I have never really been a huge fan of paranormal books. If that's even what this book would be considered. I can't think of a paranormal book series that I've read that I really liked. But I figured that I always say the same thing about contemporary and I still manage to find ones that I really like.
Unfortunately, this one wasn't it. I feel like I should have connected to the characters at least a little bit by the point in the book that I stopped at, but I didn't. I didn't care about them or their mission. I didn't care about the immortals. I didn't care about the mortals. I feel like a lot of demon sounding creatures were thrown at me in a really short amount of time and I just didn't really follow or care.
At the same time, I feel like if I could have found it in me to care a little bit about what was going on, I probably could have liked this book. But I didn't care enough to get far enough into this book to see if that was true.
Have you read this book? What did you think of it? Should I give it another shot in the future?
I was not fond of this one and DNFd it as well! I also couldn't connect with any of the characters...or really follow whatever the story was...I was part of the blog tour and felt guilty for not finishing the book, but, I just couldn't!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I didn't end up signing up for the blog tour! I was going to! But I would feel bad too if I didn't finish it for a blog tour! I hope that your next reads are better than this one!
