Wednesday, November 18, 2015

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on...

Cruel Crown by Victoria Aveyard
(Red Queen #0.1-0.2)
Publisher: January 5th, 2016
Publication Date: HarperTeen
Pages: 208

Summary (from Goodreads):

Two women on either side of the Silver-Red divide tell the stories no one else knows.

Discover the truth of Norta's bloody past in these two revealing prequels to #1 New York Times bestseller Red Queen.

Also includes an exclusive excerpt of the hotly anticipated second book in the Red Queen series! Glass Sword transports readers to the world of Silver tyranny, a Red dawn rising, and one girl's resolve to break down the system that will hold her back no longer.

Queen Song
Queen Coriane, first wife of King Tiberias, keeps a secret diary—how else can she ensure that no one at the palace will use her thoughts against her? Coriane recounts her heady courtship with the crown prince, the birth of a new prince, Cal, and the potentially deadly challenges that lay ahead for her in royal life.

Small Scars
Diana Farley was raised to be strong, but being tasked with planting the seeds of rebellion in Norta is a tougher job than expected. As she travels the land recruiting black market traders, smugglers, and extremists for her first attempt at an attack on the capital, she stumbles upon a connection that may prove to be the key to the entire operation—Mare Barrow.

I have Queen Song on my Nook to read still, but I can't wait to have this bind up to add to my shelf!

What are you waiting on this week?

  1. Oooh nice pick, Cyra!! :) I might end up looking into getting this bind-up as well -- even though I didn't love Red Queen as much as you, I'm really curious now that I know that the novellas are about Coriane and Farley! I had no idea they had their own stories and am really interested in their perspectives :)

    1. I hope that you enjoy the novellas more than you liked the book! I hope I love them! I have one of them on my nook right now, but I have yet to actually read it! I need to get on that! I'm really interested to see things from their perspectives as well!

  2. Ha! I'm really excited to read Glass Sword. I generally don't read novellas because they are SUCH a waste of money individually - definitely a marketing scheme that I don't enjoy. I'd invest in the bindup of *all* the series' novellas. :D I hope you enjoy this one, Cyra!

    1. I love novellas! Now that you mention it, it does mostly seem like a waste of money, but if I love the series enough, I'll fork over the money to get more of the story! I can't wait to get this and Glass Sword!
