Today I am reviewing my second Owlcrate subscription box! The last one I got was in November before I decided to review boxes. I love me a good Dystopia book so I had to try April's box.
I haven't had a terrible lot of luck with my previous subscription boxes in terms of getting things I would actually want. I think that this is definitely the box I am the most happy with out of the three boxes I have gotten so far.
This is the view upon opening the box! I love the artwork on the little explanation card. It looks like a little dystopian city where books and reading have to be approved.
Also, I knew that there was going to be something inspired by Shatter Me in this box and now that I see what it is, I'm a lot less disappointed. I did not like that book, but I kinda like the quote on that little coaster you can see. I spent my life folded between the pages of books.
So these are all the goodies that were included in the box. Sorry I didn't take the clearest photos! There is a minimalist Hunger Games magnet from Half Blood Prints and a Mockingjay bracelet from The Geeky Cauldron!
The very unclear thing at the top of the picture (that I didn't realize was so unclear until right now) is a Maze Runner WCKED decal from Shailey Ann Designs!
Then there's a little notebook featuring artwork from the UK first edition of 1984 by George Orwell from Manuscripts.
Then there's the coaster with the Shatter Me quote from Evie Bookish.
Then there's the lovely mini quote poster thing which has a quote from The Star-Touched Queen which makes me happy. I'm not positive where that is from, it doesn't seem to say anywhere who created that. But I think that is probably my favorite thing in the whole box!
And now for the book! Included in this month's box was Flawed by Cecelia Ahern! I haven't really heard a lot about this book, but at least it's not a book that I know I don't want to read! The cover and the dust jacket are really cool!
It also came with a mini cover poster and that blank piece of paper actually is a letter from the author!
Overall, I'm actually excited about this box. Which makes me so glad!
And I guess since I did pros and cons on my last subscription box review, I better do them again!
Pros:
-Fandom goodies! Things that I like to have, but would probably never buy for myself. I will totally wear that mockingjay bracelet, but I never can justify buying things like that for myself.
-Once again, the nice new hardcover book!
Cons:
-Kinda spendy. But not as spendy as the Best Damn Book Box! This one was $29.99 and the shipping was a lot less ridiculous. I think it's like $6.99. So still just under like $40, but that's like $10 cheaper than the last box I got.
-The gamble! I probably never would have chosen this book for myself, but after reading the synopsis, I really can't say that I'm totally disappointed that I got this book. Who knows, maybe it will be my new favorite?
Have you gotten an Owlcrate before? What did you think? Did you get the Dystopia box? Do you like subscription box reviews? I kind of want to keep buying more different ones to review.
I love your subscription box reviews. I think my favorite thing is seeing people open them and pre-gaming myself to guess what might be included. I got a mystery themed owlcrate a while back and . . . I gave away absolutely everything that came in the box including the book (which I never read). I think subscription boxes, for me, are more fun in theory than in reality.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them! I like doing them, but it will probably be a little while before I can do another one because life keeps eating all my money. Why are things like new glasses and new tires so important?! BUT I don't care how poor I am, I am buying the Game of Thrones themed Best Damn Book Box for June! But I definitely agree that they are more fun in theory! Buuuut at this point, the excitement is getting to me and I have a list of like three other subscription boxes that I want to try out and review! :) Someday I will learn.
