Hello lovely readers! Today I have a discussion post for all of you. How exciting! For my first discussion post in a long time, I want to talk about blog schedules!
I have decided that I want to implement a schedule for my blog. I don't really have any kind of organization as to what I post or when and I think that I need to get into some kind of a schedule. Because lately I feel like I've just been doing the general weekly memes and lots and lots of tags. And then the occasional review. And I didn't start a blog for the tags and memes!
Anyway, so the schedule I am going to test out looks like this:
Sunday: Blog Tag/Off
Monday: Review
Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday
Wednesday: Waiting on Wednesday
Thursday: Discussion
Friday: Off
Saturday: Stacking the Shelves
I really like the blog tags. I think that they're so fun! So I want to keep doing them and I have found SO many that I want to do so I gave myself a blog tag day. So I can do one a week instead of doing multiple tags in a week so I have something to post on a given day.
I have been working my way through a lot of ebooks that I have been putting off that I got from Netgalley or from authors for review. And I just haven't been loving them. So I have just been putting off reading because I don't even want to do it. But I think that having one review day a week will be doable. The backed up books won't last forever. Then when I get more reviews built up, I think I will change Friday into a second review day a week.
I really want to try to do more discussions too so I worked that in. I don't know what I'll talk about, but I'll think of something. Once a month I am thinking I'll do some kind of discussion or post about me/my life so you can get to know me. As if you all care, but maybe you do.
I know that I don't have to have a post everyday, but I want to. I really don't have a life so I have plenty of time on my hands.
So yeah! What are your thoughts on the subject? Do you have a schedule that you follow for what you post and when? Or are you more of a 'fly by the seat of your pants' blogger? What do you think of the schedule I'm trying out?
I don't follow a schedule aside from posting every second day. My posts are usually reviews, though, so I'd like to switch it up a bit. I like your idea of having a day dedicated to certain things. I should try to implement something like that. If I wasn't always posting reviews, I could probably schedule a few in advance :). I'll be looking forward to your discussion posts. I wish I could incorporate more, but I am so bad at them.

This is my first week of my newly implemented schedule and I already find it SO much more convenient! Like, I have two weeks worth of posts built up already! I think that the discussion posts are going to be the hardest because I have literally no idea what I'm going to talk about once a week, but I will hopefully think of something! But yeah, basically I didn't think that the schedule would make that big of a difference, but I think that it does!
DeleteBack in August, I made this extremely intense blog schedule/calendar thing, but it's quickly deteriorated because the thing is, I wish I had more time to blog, but I just don't. So I've been kind of relying on way too many memes (although I love memes!) since I haven't been able to read. Hopefully I'll be able to finish two of the books I'm currently reading within the week and hopefully get back on schedule, but I think having at least a loose schedule is great! Nice post, Cyra! :)
ReplyDeleteWith my current work schedule and my lack of anything resembling a life, I pretty much have all the time in the world to blog. When Christmas rolls around, that will probably be different because starting Cyber Monday, things are gonna suck at my work (hopefully) and the way things are going with this schedule already, I may not even get totally behind on posts! I love all the memes too! Hope to see your reviews soon! :)
DeleteVery early on when I started blogging, I tried something similar. It worked for a while, but can I be honest? I got kinda bored. But if it works for you, then that's awesome! I know it definitely helps in being able to schedule stuff, which takes some stress away.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I have a giveaway going on for my belated blogoversary. It's for a $15 Amazon giftcard, open internationally. If you want to check it out, here it is: http://www.whatsyourstorybookreviews.com/2015/10/giveaway-15-amazon-giftcard.html
Thanks for the heads up about your giveaway! I can agree that it could get boring, but I feel like getting into a routine will be helpful and then I can drop it and do whatever I want once my blog consists of more than memes and tags and the occasional review. Haha! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI, personally, suck at schedules. It's a wonder I can stick to the time table at school. I hate schedules that much! I've tried, honestly, but I CAN NEVER KEEP IT UP. I'd be terrible at blogging according to a set schedule. Not only would I feel incredibly restricted, but also I'd slack off a LOT. I admire your willpower! :)

I think that my schedule will work for me because it is basically what I was doing anyway. Except there would be some weeks with all tags and memes because I felt like I needed to post something. I felt like I was really struggling for the last month with the review part of this because I had a bunch of books that I really needed to get read and I didn't really like most of them and I didn't want to go on, but I said that I would read them and I have finished them all and now I think it will be better. I think the hardest part I'm gonna have with this is discussion posts! But I want to do those regularly because they're obviously more popular! This is my first regularly scheduled discussion post and it already has more comments than most of the other things I post! I think I'll just need to have it in place until I get used to posting not all memes and tags! Haha!
DeleteI'm one of the crazy people that loves schedules and organization and whatnot. Here's how mine goes:
ReplyDelete- Sunday: pre-pub review day
- Monday: pre-pub review day
- Tuesday: USED TO BE pre-pub review day, soon to be just promo/blog tour day
- Wednesday: Waiting on Wednesday meme day
- Thursday: Swoon Thursday meme day (occasional blog tour and/or pre-pub review day)
- Friday: post-pub review day (occasional blog tour and/or pre-pub review day)
- Saturday: Stacking the Shelves meme day
My blog schedule really works for me! I churn out about 4 reviews a week, soon to be just 3. I use Google Calendar to stay organized, as well as a Word Doc, and an Excel spreadsheet.

You're the only one who seems to like the schedule! You post a lot of reviews! I think that I can get more reviews in now that I've read all the books I said I'd review for people. I don't feel like reading makes me wanna die now! Hopefully someday I can have so many books read that I can post 3-4 a week! :)
