Top Ten Tuesday (#31)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish!

This week's topic is Ten Songs I Wish Were Books!

1. I Know Places by Taylor Swift

Cause they got the cages, they got the boxes
And guns
They are the hunters, we are the foxes
And we run

Baby, I know places we won't be found
And they'll be chasing their tails tryin' to track us down
Cause I, I know places we can hide
I know places, I know places

Everytime I hear this song, I think of The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, which is my favorite book. So I think it is reasonable to assume that if this were made into a book, I would love it!

2. Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore

Well, you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah, you built up a world of magic

If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hands
You can't feel it with your heart
And I won't believe it
But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah

The lyrics of this song kind of make me think of an elaborate fantasy novel that in the end just turns out to be all made up in someone's head to deal with how awful their real life is. Which would be so mean, but still...

3. Monster by Paramore

I'm only human, I've got a skeleton in me
But I'm not the villain, despite what you're always preaching.
Call me a traitor, I'm just collecting your victims
And they're getting stronger
I hear them calling.

Okay, this part of this song kind of makes me feel Grisha vibes. I don't know. Like the Darkling is a villain, but I always thought he had good intentions, but just went about them in a poor fashion. And like, he had his Grisha army which were kind of victims because a lot of people were not big fans of them and such. I don't know. Something like that. Maybe. I don't know.

4. Love Story by Taylor Swift

We were both young when I first saw you.
I close my eyes and the flashback starts:
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air.

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns.
See you make your way through the crowd
And say, "Hello, "
Little did I know...

This song combined with having seen the video makes me think it would make a good historical romance book!

Okay, well, top ten Tuesday is gonna just be top four Tuesday today because this prompt is HARD and I can't think of anything else.

What songs do you think would make good YA novels and what would they be about?

  1. This does seem like a really difficult prompt! I honestly don't think I could do it, especially since most of the songs I listen to aren't in English. :D Great choices, Cyra!

  2. I Know Places always reminded me of TDM as well! And Love Story always reminds me of Remembrance by Michelle Madow, because that book was literally based off of the music video for that song hahaha.
